Employee Templates is a feature that enables users to create and manage standardized payroll configurations for defined employee groups, based on contract types, pay structures, and payroll variations. For Business Partners, this feature provides super users with increased flexibility to support customers at scale. It streamlines country-level payroll management by allowing the creation of country-specific templates that can be applied consistently across all companies operating within that country.

How Employee Templates Support Business Partners
Business Partners can use the Employee Templates feature to configure standardized templates for specific employee sub-groups at either a country or company level.
For example, in South Africa, many organizations employ staff who fall under different Bargaining Councils, each with distinct wage rates, contribution rules, and statutory requirements. Managing these variations at an individual employee level can be complex, error-prone, and difficult to maintain over time.
With Employee Templates, Business Partners can create Bargaining Council–specific templates that capture all required payroll variables for each council. Business Partner customers can then apply these pre-configured templates by assigning employees to the appropriate Bargaining Council based on their role, location, or employment contract.
Once created -
- Payroll calculations automatically reference the correct variable values.
- Income bases and contribution calculations remain consistent for all employees linked to the same council template.
- Updates to council rates can be managed centrally by modifying the relevant template, eliminating the need to update individual employee records.

Business Partner Template Configuration
The Template Configuration screen allows users to assign values to Component Variables that are associated with each template. These assigned values can then be utilised when calculating income bases for determining employee pay or contribution structures.
