Can an employee cancel an approved leave application that was not taken?
This feature is available on all PaySpace editions.
Yes, an approved leave application not taken can be cancelled on the Leave Application Screen. The cancelled Leave Application will return through the workflow (approval) path.
The View History screen can be accessed upon navigating to the Leave Application screen on ESS and the user may click on the "x" icon to cancel the Leave Application.
Navigate > Leave > Application > View History
If leave is approved and is cancelled, the employee will be required to insert a comment specifying the reason for the cancellation.
The approver/s will receive a notification and would need to approve or reject the cancellation.
Once the cancellation is approved by the approver/s, the leave days will be returned to the employees Leave Balance.
Navigate > Employee > Leave > Leave Balances > Leave Balance Breakdown
Note!
- If the leave is future-dated, the transaction will be removed from the history grid.
- If leave was applied for but not approved/rejected, no leave would have been deducted and no action is required from an approver.
- If a committed leave transaction is deleted, it will be deleted from the history grid. If the leave has been taken, the days will not be returned to an employee.
