Zimbabwe: Statutory Instrument 22 of 2024

The provisions of Statutory Instrument 22 of 2024 states:
 
Section 41 of the National Social Security Authority (Accident Prevention and Workers’ Compensation Scheme) Notice, 1990, published in Statutory Instrument 68 of 1990, is amended by the repeal of subsection (1) and the substitution of the following—
 
(1) For the purposes of the provisions of this Scheme relating to earnings and monthly earnings of a worker, the earnings of the worker shall, subject to this section, be computed in such manner as is best calculated to give the rate per month at which the worker was being remunerated by his or her employer at the time of the accident, and shall be determined as follows—
 
(a) where allowances and other benefits exceed the basic salary, the allowances and other benefits shall be grossed up and deemed to be the salary for the purposes of calculating the premium;
(b) where allowances and other benefits do not exceed the basic salary, the basic salary shall be used as the earnings for the purposes of calculating the premium.
 
The effective date is 16 February 2024.
