Republic of Congo | SMIG Increase 1st January 2025

In the Republic of Congo, the guaranteed minimum wage (SMIG) will be set at 70,400 CFA francs per month, effective January 1, 2025. This increase is the result of ten years of negotiations and discussions between social partners and the government, aimed at raising the minimum wage. The new decree will replace the previous one from December 21, 2008, which established the minimum wage at 50,400 CFA francs per month.

The decision to raise the minimum wage was made during the last Council of Ministers meeting held on November 8, 2024. However, this new amount has yet to be formally published.
