Why doesn't the Roster functionality prorate Basic Pay as expected, and how should the proration for employees with varying work schedules be handled?

The Rosters module is designed to determine which days an employee works and which days they are off, typically for a 5-day workweek where the off days vary. This module also works with the Leave module to manage leave accumulation, but it does not handle the proration of Basic Pay.
  • Used to define which days an employee works and which days are off.
  • Works alongside the leave module for leave accumulation.
  • Does not affect Basic Pay proration calculations.
For proration of Basic Pay, the system specifically looks at the days selected on an employee's Pay Rate Details screen. This screen directly influences how Basic Pay is calculated, especially when prorating for scenarios such as the employee's first month of employment or termination.
  • The system calculates pro ration based on the days selected on the Pay Rate Details screen.
  • If all 7 days of the week are selected, the system prorates Basic Pay based on 7 days, which may not be suitable for 5-day workweeks.
  • Currently, the system uses 21.67 days per period for proration calculations.
To ensure proper proration of Basic Pay, select 5 out of the 7 days when an employee starts, so that the system calculates based on a 5-day workweek. After the payroll run is closed, you can update the settings to select all 7 days again, if necessary.
