Tanzania | Launch of Integrated Domestic Revenue Administration System (IDRAS)

Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) confirms the launch of the Integrated Domestic Revenue Administration System (IDRAS), a unified domestic tax administration platform, effective 9 February 2026.

What is changing
IDRAS Implementation 
  1. From 9 February 2026, IDRAS applies as the single digital platform for domestic tax administration in Tanzania.
  2. IDRAS replaces multiple existing domestic tax systems, including registration, filing, and payment modules.
  3. The platform operates as a one-stop portal linked to each taxpayer’s Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).
  4. IDRAS integrates with other government databases to support more accurate, data-driven tax assessments.
System migration and downtime
  1. Existing domestic tax systems, including the Online Taxpayer Portal, will be unavailable from 6 February 2026 to 8 February 2026 for data migration.
  2. Existing TIN data will be migrated automatically, but users must ensure contact details and authorised declarants are updated by 6 February 2026.
Monthly payroll declaration timeline under IDRAS
  1. The first live monthly payroll declaration under IDRAS applies for February 2026 payroll and is due by 7 March 2026, in line with statutory monthly filing deadlines.
