South Africa | Nature of Person Category Definitions

The Nature of  person field on the Tax Profile screen refers to an employee’s category of employment. Based on the selection made from the dropdown list, further required information will be prompted. This article contains the definition of each category.

Category

Definition

A - Individual with ID or Passport number

A natural person with ID number or passport number.

B – Individual without ID number or Passport no

A natural person with no ID number of passport number.

D – Trust

Considered as a non-natural person for a trust.

E – Company or CC

Considered as a non-natural person for a company or CC.

F – Partnership

Considered as a non-natural person for a partnership.

G - Corporation

Considered as a non-natural person for a corporation.

H – Personal Service Provider

Considered as a non-natural person for a personal service provider.

M – Asylum Seeker

An individual who has a valid Asylum Seeker number.

If Asylum Seeker is selected, the Identification Type will default to Asylum, and the Asylum Seeker Identity No. must be captured, as this becomes a mandatory field.

N - Pensioner

Retirement Fund Lump Sum Recipient/Pensioner.

R - Refugee

An individual who is a valid refugee. If Refugee is selected, the Identification type will default to Refugee ID.
