South Africa | COID earnings threshold increase
The Minister of Employment and Labour published Government Gazette 54577, increasing the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases (COID) earnings threshold, effective 1 March 2026.
What is changing
COID earnings threshold
- Effective 1 March 2026, the COID earnings threshold increases from R633 168 to R668 000 per annum (limit for 2026/2027).
- The threshold is the maximum annual earnings per employee on which an employer's assessment is calculated, in terms of section 83(8) of the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA).
