Mauritius | 2026 Additional Remuneration
The Mauritius Workers’ Rights (Additional
Remuneration) (2026) Regulations 2026 came into force through Government Gazette
No. 4 on 17 January 2026. The
Regulation mandates
employers to pay additional remuneration to eligible workers to compensate for
the increase in the cost of living.
What is changing
Effective 1 January
2026, employers must increase employee wages as follows:
Full-time workers
- A fixed
additional remuneration of Rs 635 per month.
- The additional remuneration applies to workers
with a basic monthly wage of up to Rs 50,000.
Part-time workers
- Where the
monthly basic wage is below Rs 17,110, additional remuneration is calculated at
3.7% of the monthly basic wage, rounded up to the next rupee.
- Where the
monthly basic wage is not less than Rs 17,110 but not more than Rs 50,000, additional
remuneration is fixed at Rs 635 per month.
Workers paid on a
piece-rate basis
- The piece
rates must be increased by 3.7%.
- The
maximum additional remuneration payable is Rs 635 per month.
