I want to onboard an employee who is a foreign national but who has citizenship in South Africa. When I capture their South African ID number, I get an error saying that “The ID number does not match the employee’s citizenship”.

I want to onboard an employee who is a foreign national but who has citizenship in South Africa. When I capture their South African ID number, I get an error saying that “The ID number does not match the employee’s citizenship”.

Whenever the third last digit of a person's ID number is a 1, it means that person was not born in South Africa. Although they can have a SA ID, their nationality and citizenship will always be the country that they were born in.
 
When onboarding the employee, on the Basic Information screen > Basic Profile > Personal, define the employee’s Citizenship as the country that they were born in. 


Next, add the employee’s SA ID number on the Basic Information screen > Tax Profile
