How does the "Use Leave Priority" option work when applying for leave?

This applies to all PaySpace editions.

When employees apply for Leave the following option displays underneath the bucket "Use Leave Priority".

      Navigate > Employee > Leave > Applications

      

The option Use Leave Priority, indicates that leave will be deducted when applied for in the order that was specified when setting up the Leave Scheme Parameters for the company. The Leave Priority used will be the priority indicated on the Leave Scheme that the employee is linked to.

This is an extract from the Company Leave Scheme Parameters screen, next to the leave scheme, there are numbers specified as 1 and 2.

      Navigate > Configuration > Human Resources > Leave Administration > Leave Scheme Parameters

      

Leave will be deducted in the order specified on this screen as per the company level setup, the numbers indicate the order in which leave will be deducted.

As per the above extract, leave will first be deducted from the Annual Carry Over Leave bucket first and then once there are no leave days available in this bucket, it will be deducted from the Annual Leave bucket.

Note!
      If the below setting has not been enabled, the system will by default use Leave Priority when employees apply for leave on ESS.
