How do I resolve run error: "Component Provident Employer Contribution, cannot reference basic salary when it is in package."?

How do I resolve run error: "Component Provident Employer Contribution, cannot reference basic salary when it is in package."?

This applies to all PaySpace editions.

The run error "Component Provident Employer Contribution, cannot reference basic salary when it is in package" will display if the recurring Provident deduction component has been configured to be part of package and the income base of the correlating Provident fund references the Basic Pay component.

Step 1: Edit the Provident Employer Contribution component and check if the "in package" checkbox is enabled.

Navigate > Employee > Payroll Processing > Recurring Payroll Components

Step 2: Check if the relevant Provident fund's income base is referencing the Basic Pay component, by clicking on the "click here to edit RFI - Alexander Forbes Provident Fund - 1820435352 defined income" hyperlink. Changing the income base to reference the Recurring Package Rate will remove the error. The Provident fund will then be calculated without any errors.

Navigate > Configuration > Payroll > Administer Payroll Funds > Pension and Provident Setup
