How do I add a tax certificate number prefix?
This feature is available on all Deel Local Payroll powered by payspace payroll editions
A tax certificate number prefix has to be specified per frequency so that the system generates unique tax certificate numbers. If this is not done, the CSV files exported per frequency will overwrite one another when imported into SARS e@syFile™ Employer.
Navigate > Config > Payroll > Payroll Config > Pay Frequencies > General
Important
- Tax certificate numbers are generated in line with SARS Business Requirement Specifications (BRS) and cannot exceed 30 numeric or alphanumeric characters. Each part of the certificate number is reserved for specific information, including the company tax reference, year and period of assessment, employee tax ID, and system prefixes
- Only two characters are allocated to the tax certificate number prefix per frequency. This limitation is fixed and required to comply with SARS specifications, which means the starting number or prefix cannot be extended or adjusted beyond this design.
