How can the BCEA Eight-week Leave Rule be implemented on the system?
This applies to all PaySpace editions.
According to Section 23 of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, “An employer is not required to pay an employee in terms of section 22 if the employee has been absent from work for more than two consecutive days or on more than two occasions during an eight-week period and, on request by the employer, does not produce a sick certificate stating that the employer was unable to work for the duration of the employee’s absence on account of sickness or injury."
The "are attachments mandatory for leave applications" under the advanced options section of the Leave Scheme Parameters screen may be enabled. This setting will make attachments mandatory when an employee applies for a third transaction within an 8-week cycle for that specific leave type.
Navigate > Configuration > Human Resources > Leave Administration > Leave Scheme Parameters > advanced options
Note!
The above setting will only become available when the "are attachments mandatory for leave applications?" setting is enabled.
