Egypt - Increase in Social Security Limits

The Social Insurance and Pension Law no. 148 of 2019 mandates a 15% increase on the minimum and maximum salary limits on which the social security contributions are calculated on. This increase is effective 1 January every year for a period of seven years from 1 January 2021.

Therefore, effective 1 January 2023 -
  1. the monthly minimum salary limit increases from EGP 1 400 to EGP 1 700, and 
  2. the monthly maximum limit increases from EGP 9 400 to EGP 10 900.
