Burkina Faso - Increase in SMIG amount
On the 3rd November 2023 Decree N°2023-1586/PRES-TRANS/PM/MFPTPS/MEFP was promulgated repealing the Decree N°2006 655/PRES/PM/MTSS/MFB du 29 December 2006 that fixes the guaranteed minimum wage (SMIG) in Burkina Faso.
The Council of Ministers have set the monthly SMIG amount to 45 000 francs CFA from 30 684 francs CFA, effective from date of promulgation.
The SMIG amount affects the minimum social security contribution, meaning that contributions may not be lower than the set SMIG amount. Therefore, any corrections to these amounts should be managed directly with the Caisse National De Sécurité Sociale in Burkina Faso.
